How to measure for a bra and achieve the perfect fit

Step 1

Measure Your Band Size

For this step, we recommend that you stand upright without a bra on.  Then measure around your back and under your bust, where the band of a bra would usually sit.

Make sure the tape is going around in a steady, even line. It should feel snug because the Band provides 80 per cent of a bra’s support – so if it’s too loose, it’s not going to hold your breasts in prime position.  As a guide allow for a two-finger gap all the way around.

Make a note of the measurement in inches: this is your band size. If it is in between round it up to the nearest inch.

Step 2

Measure Your Bust Size

For this step we recommend you stand upright wearing your most comfortable bra, so that your breasts are held in the place you actually want them to be. Then measure around the fullest part of your chest in inches.

Step 3

Calculate Your Cup Size

Next subtract your band size from Step 1 from the bust measurement you took in Step 2.  The difference [in inches] denotes your cup size. 0 = AA; 1 = A; 2 = B; 3 = C; 4 = D; 5 = DD; 6 = E; 7 = F; 8 = G.

Step 4

Combine Your Band Size and Your Cup Size

Combine your band size and the cup size, so you have a number followed by a letter, for example: 32C. This is your benchmark measurement.
